Struggling authors, please read.

Author Kyle Perkins

By Kyle Perkins.

So lately I have heard from a few people that they feel like they should just give up on writing because for whatever reason, they are feeling like it just isn’t worth it anymore. Whether they feel like they aren’t getting enough attention, don’t have enough fans, or whatever the case may be, they are wrong, and here’s why.

Writers and authors have a gift, and because we have that gift, we have an obligation, a responsibility to use it. We may “just” arrange words in such a fashion that people enjoy reading them, but a heart surgeon “just” transplants hearts, and astronauts “just” go to space. We need to stop treating writing like it is simply a hobby that “anyone” can do, because that’s not the case. We “just” take people to places they can’t go on their own, and give them a form of escapism…

Bizarre Author Interview – Payback Edition!

Author Lila Vale

As many of you know, my co-author, Kyle, has been doing weekly interviews with fellow authors where he asks them all kinds of odd questions instead of the same ol’ same ol’ interview stuff. I was one of his first victims and I had a blast, but still wanted a bit of payback for some of the nastier questions he asked me. Kyle, being the good sport that he is, agreed to sit down for my own version of his bizarre interviews.

Without further ado, here’s how it went:

Hey Kyle! Thanks for being a good sport and taking it as well as you dish it. I’ll try to do your weird interviews justice. So what do you write? I know this, but for the sake of people new to you and all that.

A bit of everything. Basically anything under the banner of speculative fiction. I just write whatever I’m thinking at…

Bizarre Interviews with Kyle Perkins-Week 4.

Author Kyle Perkins

By Kyle Perkins.

Sorry for the delay, guys! Today’s interview is with Melissa Robitille. I got a week behind, but all is well again. Let’s jump right in.

Question 1: So, who are you? What do you write?

I’m Melissa Robitille, author, editor, book interior designer, book cover designer… workaholic. I write urban fantasy, science fiction, horror, and paranormal romance.

Question 2: Book interior designer? What in the fuck is that?

I make the inside of your print book (and ebook) look pretty. That’s usually page numbering, making sure the chapter headings look nice, making sure you don’t have weird extra spaces at the top or bottom of the page, etc. If you’ve ever seen a book with chapters that start with a large drop cap, a book interior designer did that.

Question 3: Well, well. Fancy. Now we know you on surface value, let’s get into the hard…

Las Vegas Sidewinders: Anatoli (Las Vegas Sidewinders, #4) by Kat Mizera

Great review for a great book ❤

hockeygirl's book reviews

OMG!!! Can I have more than 5 stars? This book definitely needs more than 5 stars. I have been waiting for this book since I read the very first book in the series, Dominic. It is hard not to fall in love with Toli, and Kat has done an amazing job of bringing Toli to life. I don’t think she could have written him any better. I didn’t want to put this book down, not even to sleep.

Before I knew who Toli’s love interest would be in this book I had my own idea of who I thought he would be a good match with, but I was so wrong. Kat picked the perfect girl for Toli to fall in love with. I never even saw Tessa coming. She is his ideal mate in every sense of the word though. We also get to see a bit of a…

Why fighting book piracy is just time wasted.

Author Kyle Perkins

by Kyle Perkins.

Not saying that I condone book piracy, or piracy of any kind, but trying to defeat piracy is a pointless and time consuming venture that will only end in pain. Don’t believe me? Click here. Here.Here.Or here.

The way that torrents work, is when someone creates a torrent, they announce it and use public trackers, meaning anyone can recreate the torrent and put it on hundreds of sites. A lot of it is automatic, meaning as soon as a torrent is uploaded, many sites automatically recreate the torrent for distribution on their site. That’s with only ONE tracker. Most people use dozens of trackers when they upload a torrent, so everything I just said multiplied.

To make matters worse, most of these sites are hosted in countries where piracy isn’t illegal, and you have absolutely no recourse. Some sites may remove your copyrighted files…
